Frozen Snowball TreatsDisney’s FROZEN is now available to buy on blu-ray/DVD and to celebrate you can whip up these delish Frozen Snowball Treats to serve the kiddos for movie night! These sweet snowballs would make for a fun snowball fight – but you’d probably rather keep them and snack on them while watching the movie!

Disney Frozen Snowball Treats Ingredients

What you need:

Marshmallows
White Wilton Melting Candy
Coconut
Blue food coloring
1 sucker stick or chopstick

Disney Frozen Snowball Treats How To

How to make them:

Start by dying some of the coconut blue by putting about a cup of the coconut into a plastic zip top bag or covered container along with a few drops of blue food coloring. If you use gel coloring, add a little water to the coloring before adding it to the coconut. Cover or zip and then shake until color distributes completely.

Then, mix your colored coconut with another 2 cups of white coconut in a larger bowl. Set aside.

Melt your candy melts in a microwave safe bowl for approx. a minute. Stir until completely smooth. If needed, microwave an additional 20 seconds.

Place a marshmallow on the end of  a sucker stick or chopstick and then dip in the melted candy until the marshmallow is completely covered. Then, tap the stick on the edge of the bowl to shake off the excess candy.

Immediately  dip the marshmallow in the coconut mixture. Roll it around and pack on the coconut until completely covered. At this point, you can remove the sucker stick and then pack on any additional coconut.

The snowball will set in just a couple of minutes, so by the time you are finished making them all, they will be ready to enjoy!

  1. What a cute idea! Thanks for sharing this. That blue is the PERFECT shade of blue and represents the movie very well! What color and brand did you use for this?
    Thank you, Jodie

    • Thank you so much! All I had on hand was the Betty Crocker Classic Gel Food Colors – so I added a dollop of the blue gel to a little bit of warm water – about a tablespoon – and whisked it till the gel dissolved. Then I added it to the coconut and shook it. I started with a little of the color and then added until it hit the color I wanted.

  2. I’m looking into doing these for my daughters snack table on her birthday party, although will these be good for a few days? Or will I need to do them the day of the event?

    • We made lots and tucked some away in the freezer – they keep pretty good, just make sure they are wrapped up tight!

  3. You mentioned you “froze” these. Please elaborate. How did you wrap/store? Did you have to “defrost” before serving? Were they mushy? Any tips would be great. Considering as a treats for my 5-year old’s birthday.

    • You can wrap them with plastic wrap or parchment paper to freeze, or you can just lay them all out on a tray or cookie sheet and then cover with plastic wrap. I would say that if you have had them frozen for more than 24 hours, that you might want to let them “unthaw” for about 5 minutes before eating. They weren’t mushy at all – the cookies are cake mix cookies, so they aren’t meant to be crunchy. They are soft, but firm. :)
